Darla here ~~~ Please accept my apologies for this late post.  I was going through some older papers last night and came upon the obituary for our classmate Mary Ninmer Lowe.  She passed away Friday morning August 19, 2022 at St. Nicholas Hospital.  She was married to Fred Lowe III for 41 years.  You can read her full obituary in our IN MEMORY section.  Thank you.

Looks like the Wednesday gathering group had another successful get-together at The Bull.

They met on January 18, 2023 and enjoyed visiting with each other.

Next date to meet should be February 15th, the day after Valentine's Day.  Circumstances (like the weather), could cause them to cancel and reschedule, so check back here in February for an update.

Dale Edwin Beck, passed away at his new home in Kirkland, Washington, on November 30, 2008, where he lived with his daughter, son-in-law, and their son, Andrew Johnson.  Dale was a precious, only child, born to Adelia (Schukow) and Edwin Beeck on November 11, 1936 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  Dale served in the WI National Guard after his marriage to Mary Joan Gersmehl, in 1960.  In 1999, Mary Jo passed away in Phoenix, Arizona.  Dale will be lovingly missed by his son Steven Dale, his wife Mary Patricia and their three children: Anna, Andrew, and Joey of Minneapolis, MN; and his daughter, Jacqueline Marie, her husband Barry Johnson and their son Andrew of Kirkland, WA; sister-in-law, Nancy (Gersmehl of Ocala, FL; and Dennis Themar of Kiel, WI; brother-in-law John and Jean Gersmehl of Ocala, FL; cousins, who were like sisters and brothers to him: Marilyn (Strauss) Meyer and Gerald Meyer of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Edward and Sandy Strauss of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Allan and Sally Strauss of Westlake, OH, John and Mary (Strausss) Lee, of Detroit Lake, MN; niece, Christina Themar and her husband Stefano Tronci and niece, Brittany Themar.

Well, here we are into another New Year...already again.  Time sure passes quickly these days, don't they?!

Whatever are we going to talk about this month...since my Memories a Month have been used up...?  

I have decided, in order to keep those smiles on your faces...I would send you some "funnies."  
[Some of today's chuckles are related to the Covid experience we've all been having].
And then I'll throw in some 'words of wisdom' here and there.  

And maybe I'll come up with some others things along the way/when ideas come to mind.

 1.  The dumbest thing I ever bought was a 2022 planner.

 2.  I was so bored I called Jake from State Farm just to talk, to someone. 
                           He asked me what I was wearing.

 3.  The world has turned upside down.  Old folks are sneaking out of the house
                                                    and their kids are yelling at them to stay indoors!

 4.  This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her dog.  It was obvious she thought her dog
                             understood her.  I came into my house and told my cat.  We laughed alot.

 5.  Every few days, try your clothes on just to make sure they still fit.  Pajamas will have
              you believe all is well in the kingdom.

 6.  (During COVId) --- Does anyone know if we can take showers yet, or should we just
              keep washing our hands?

 7.  This virus had done what no woman has been able to do:
              Cancel sports, shut down all bars, and keep men at home!

 8.  I never thought the comment, "I wouldn't touch him/her with a 6-foot pole" would 
              become a national policy, but here we are!

 9.  I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.

10.  I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to the backyard. 
               I'm getting tired of the living  room.

11.  Never in a million years could I have imagined I would go up to a
                bank teller wearing a mask and ask for money.

Just to let you know that there will be a visitation at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center on January 8, 2023 for Dieter Helm.

The hours are: 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Dieter's Memorial Service will follow - 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

If you choose to do so, you can also watch the service livestream........on your computer.

I came across this great picture of our Sheboygan Armory today.    I think it's a lovely picture (even though the windows are boarded up for demolition).  Man, I miss that grand old building.......so many good and happy times there.....especially the North/South basketball games.  Are any of you with me on that?

I feel as though they have taken our precious memories away from us....when I drive by there and see an empty lot. I guess that's the way it is.  We need to keep the memories in our hearts.   But you know, whenever we'd drive past there and I'd see that grand old building...memories flooded my heart...and gave me a warm feeling.  We went to alot of music concerts there, too.  Boy, it would be great to go back in time and be there again....listening to Ricky Nelson singing his great hits.

I'm sorry, I guess the picture put me in a melancholy mood today.  It was just so darn nice, you know?!!  If I would've felt ... what I know now ... I would've enjoyed it even more!!

Thanks for reading this.  I'm sure many of you have alot of memories, too.  They are the best; are they not?!

Hello friends and classmates.  I FINALLY got around to posting my pictures from our big event last August.  Please forgive me for being so late with this.  If you go to "Photo Album-Birthday Party 2022 & Reunion 2022" ~ you can view my pictures.  Hopefully I got all the names straight, etc...and I'm thankful for the help from Jack and Geri.  Some folks at the party I just didn't know who they were (spouses, etc.).  I, for one, think it was a huge success and great party!  Looking at these pictures will help keep those memories we made that night, alive.  Enjoy!!   

 IT WAS AT 11:00 A.M. ON NOVEMBER 11TH, 1918 THAT A TEMPORARY PEACE, OR ARMISTICE, WAS SIGNED AND THE FIGHTING DURING WORLD WAR I CAME TO AN END.

Do any of you remember that we always acknowledged that in school...
on November 11th and called it "Armistice Day?"   
We stood in a few moments of silence, I believe.  

Gary Joseph Hoell, age 80, made his transition peacefully on November 8, 2022 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan ~ surrounded by his loved ones.  He attended Holy Name School...just as his children and grandchildren would one day attend also.  His quote under is graduation picture says: "Handsome is as handsome does."  He married Char Hamann in 1963.

Our sweet "pretty girl with dark eyes" made her transition on October 28, 2022.  Judy Pickhardt Keller will be remembered as a great friend and classmate.  Judy was 81 years young and resided in West Bloomfield, WI.  She was married to Emanuel "Bud" Keller on January 19, 1963 in Sheboygan.  We send our sincere condolences to Judy's family.  To read her full obituary, please go to the IN MEMORY page.  Rest in Peace, Dear Friend.

Geri is now walking without the brace or the walker.  Still has to take it easy, but well on her way to full recovery.  Thank God and all the prayers from very supportive family and friends, the worst is over.

As many of you know, Geri underwent major back surgery, but is doing great. So far the pain is gone thanks to all the prayers sent her way.  She still has to wear a heavy and uncomfortable back/chest brace until her spinal column heals, but hopefully it won't be much longer before she can walk without the brace.  Thanks again. She hopes to see many of you next week at the CHS 3rd Wednesday of the month get together at the Bull in Sheboygan Falls.  

We extend our sincere condolences to classmate Bill Burhop and his wife, Janet...in the passing of Bill's brother, Robert "Bob" Burhop.  Bob made his transition on Saturday October 8, 2022 in Billings, Montana.  He was born July 10, 1934 and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1952.

thus the Message Board might have a slight lull at this time. 
They plan to move to a newer and faster server...and this might take some time
to do so. 
With that in mind...I will try to keep you informed with whatever I can as we
practice our patience here.  :)

As you've probably noticed, tomorrow is the 3rd Wednesday of the month.  
Classmates with emails have been notified that the 3rd Wednesday gathering
will take place at The Bull tomorrow (September 21st, 2022)...about 4:30 p.m.
To other classmates...if you or if you know anyone who would like to attend
the gathering (if they don't have a computer)...please give them a call and let
them know.  Jack Zore would like to know by noon September 21st...so he
can give a head count to The Bull. 

I am still in the process of trying to post my pictures from the "reunion party."
It's been so long since I've done it...I've forgotten how to do that.  But, 
eventually, I will get them posted.  Thank you for your patience.

Below is the obituary for Betty Boyle, who attended our school...and was previously married to our classmate, Richard Boyle.  I remember her as being one of the prettiest and sweetest girls in school. (Darla)

BETTY BOYLE (nee Zagar) ~~~ October 21, 1940 - September 2nd, 2022

Born in East Brady, PA, Betty was the youngest and last survivor of the seven children of Anton & Frances (Bolf) (Zagar) McHenry.  She moved with her mother and sisters to Sheboygan, WI, where she attended Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and Central High School.  Betty divorced, raised her six children and entered the workforce as a caseworker for the Sheboygan County Department of Social Services, helping indigent elderly and families obtain financial assistance.  After several years, Betty became the head of what is now called the county's Economic Support Division and its many aid programs.  She responded to emergency calls for heating assistance in winter; food subsidies to women, infants and children; and financial aid to families, the elderly, migrant agricultural workers and immigrants.  She was particularly proud to have been involved in helping settle Hmong people from Cambodia and to have served on her union.  

Betty was an outspoken Democrat and union member.  In her later years, she was a political activist who walked in protest lines at the State Capitol in support of Democratic candidates and worked at the County Fair to register voters and made phone calls to urge voters to the polls.  Betty was an equally devoted and raucous Green Bay Packer fan.  She never missed a game or a chance to yell at the television to cheer on her team!

She took up knitting, jewelry, and volunteer work.  She was proud that her donated hats warmed the heads of cancer patients and premature babies...and her donated bracelets brought smiles to her many recipients, children and adults alike.

As a resident of Plymouth, WI, she volunteered as a docent at the Plymouth Arts Center and as a "pen pal" to elementary school children.

Betty's proudest accomplishment was her six children.  She gave them the enduring lesson that women can also be strong and resilient, able to surmount life's challenges with determination.

She is survived by her children and their families: Rene Boyle (Paul Emmons); Dee Boyle-Clapp (John Clapp); Tracy (Boyle) Bartz (Steve); Linda Boyle; Richard (Ric) (Tara) Boyle; and Kelly Boyle; four grandsons: Zachary and Andrew Emmons, Jarred Clapp, and Joshua (Megan) Bartz; great-granddaughter Maeve Bartz; and many nieces and neophews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eugene and Frank Zagar, and sisters Bernice LaPearle, Ann O'Keefe, Mary Jane McHenry, and Rosalie Fields.

Special thanks to Kelly Boyle, Dr. Steve and Tracy (Boyle) Bartz, Huntington Place Assisted Living staff and Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center physicians for their care, compassion, and dedication to Betty's health and well-being.

Just a few words to tell you how much I enjoyed seeing everyone last night at our "Reunion/Party." It was a night filled with memories and great joy in meeting up with old friends from school.  Many thanks to all of you for attending.  GO REDMEN!

Just finished posting my last Memory a Month.   It was a bittersweet time...almost brought me to tears.  They were the best ~ our high school years.  Sure, there were some sad times...but the good times outweighed them. 

I want to thank all of you who walked down Memory Lane with me with all my stories and experiences.   It was all quite simple ~ and I imagine sometimes boring, what I wrote.  But that's the way it was back then...more laid back and quiet.  (Certainly not boring!).  I miss all that simplicity!  People seemed more caring and considerate back then.

Anyway, thank you again.  Hope to see you at our next get-together on August 13th at Riverdale.  And God Bless good old Central High...for giving us the opportunity for education and an abundance of good friends!!

MEMORY A MONTH ~ FINAL POST OF THE SERIES ~ Part 1

MONDAY JUNE 1ST, 1959 ~~~ {Note: Unfortunately, nothing was written on today's page in my diary.  I don't know why}.

TUESDAY JUNE 2ND ~~~ Last day of school - made the most of it.  Said goodbye to Mr. Meyer about 3 times.  Tonight, Karen (Weber), Francine (McDermott), Janice (Schmidt), Audrey (Yurk), and I went to the "Y" for annual signing.  After that, we drove out to the Patio, but couldn't find a parking space, so we left.  Went to McDonald's and Homer's.  Jose Pombo asked me to go to the formal.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 3RD ~~~ Went down to the Bowl with Karen this morning to practice for graduation.  Janice & Audrey rode along back home.  Went to Milwaukee this afternoon for a formal, jacket, and shoes.  (I drove to Milwaukee, Joyce drove in the city, and Mom went along).  Bought a white formal with mint green trimmings, white plastic shoes, and a white fur jacket.

(Note: If you were at Town & Country for our reunion when I had my 'big' display...you saw the dress!!)

Came back home about 6:15 p.m. Got to the Senior Banquet about 6:35.  After the banquet (at the Foeste Hotel), we went to the school gym to sign annuals.  Went to Homer's after that.

THURSDAY JUNE 4TH ~~~ GRADUATION DAY!  ~~~~~ Went shopping downtown.  Had to go by Joyce and take a shower ~ our hot water is on the bum.  Had to return my flowers (for the prom/from Jack), they were the wrong color.  Went to see about that job at Honold & LaPage.  Sounds good.

(Note: FYI ~ I got that job and had it for many years).  :)

Took Ginny and Roxanne Kampmann along to the Bowl.  Ginny took some home movies of graduation for me.  It was a beautiful day.  Graduation was wonderful.  The Formal was nice tonight, too.  (As mentioned earlier, I went to the Prom with Jack Stampfel).  It was held at the Masonic Temple.

(Note: Does anybody remember this?  Darla sat too long under that sunlamp and she was kinda "red as a beet!"  :)  Whatta doof!).

FRIDAY JUNE 5TH ~~~ It is back to normal life again.  Cut the grass.  Went downtown tonight, etc.  Gettin' back to "Homer's" to eat.  :)

SATURDAY JUNE 6TH ~~~ Went downtown with Mom this morning.  This afternoon Karen and I took our graduation caps and gowns back.  Bought two Calypso hats.  Played badminton.  Went to Thimmig's for supper...took Mom and Sis along.  Karen and I went to the Stardust tonight.  Saw "The Shaggy Dog" and "Ride Lonesome."  Was fairly good.

.....and the rest is history and our lives, as we knew it, were gone forever ~ at good old Central High.  Those days will always be remembered.  And obviously so; here I am, sitting and writing about them...sixty-three years later.  Thank you Central High...and thank you to everyone for being such great friends.

Friday May 1, 1959 ~~~ Had another boring day of school.  Had the car tonight;

went to the "Y" with Fran (Francine McDermott).  The Jewels were playing and we 
danced just about every dance!  

(Note: Man, that was the best!  Danced "every" dance.  Wish I would still be doing that).

Man, was I hot (warm in the gym)!!  But I felt like dancing.  Sat around with Jack
Stampfel and Danny Liebelt for awhile.  Fran and I went to Homer's Drive-In after.
Rode past Schmidty's and stopped at the Patio.  Most of the kids were pretty well
loaded.  I don't go for that anymore...I get too moody.  Came home a little after 12:30.

Saturday May 2nd ~~~ Worked from 8 to 12 p.m.  Washed and waxed the car - which
took all afternoon.  Helped Dad get ready to leave.  He left for New York with the
truck.  Mom, Sis, and I went to Homer's for supper.

Went to the school play tonight: "Gramercy Ghost."  It was real good.  Went with
Karen (Weber) and Fran.  Went to Big Jim's to eat afterwards.  Then stopped at
Turner Hall - Phyllis Crneckiy's brother's wedding.  Danced for awhile.  Ericka 
(Lueck), Rita (Landgraf), and Carol (Burkhardt) and them were there, too.  Left
around 12:30 and went to Herziger's to eat again.  Rode around North Point and
that was it.

Sunday May 3rd ~~~ Went to church with the car.  (Many get-togethers with
relatives today).  Answered Karen's letter tonight.  She wrote me on on Friday
night.  Was going to go to the show tonight, but Mom wouldn't let me.  Wanted
to go to St. Mark's Church this afternoon for an organ recital.  Mom said, "No."
No, no, no ... that's all I hear!

Monday May 4th ~~~ Had an all-day test in school on everything we learned
since 8th grade.  I didn't know half the stuff.  And Algebra...I didn't even "have"
Algebra!  Oh well.  The car was at the garage today for the bakes to be fixed,
so I walked home from work.  Watched TV tonight.

Tuesday May 5th ~~~ Had tornado warnings today.  Took the car to school
today and to work, too...for the first time.  Took Karen along to school.  Came 
early and got a parking space right by the door.

(Note: I remember that parking space very well.  Think of it every time I go
down that street.  It was the first space right near Mr. DeWaard's room...and I
kind of "adopted" that space, because I was usually early on arriving every day).

Tonight, I picked up Mom and Aunt Frieda and took them to a church meeting.
Karen and I picked up Shelby at work and went to Homer's.  Then went over to
the Army Reserves - Eugene was there (Eugene Koll-Shelby's boyfriend).  
Karen brought a little bank along ... to collect money for gas for the car.

Wednesday May 6, 1959 ~~~

Took the car today.  Dropped off my application at the Court House this noon (for a job).  It rained real hard today - had tornado warnings.  Took Karen home after school.  Went home and took off my can-can / went to work / went to the Post Office to mail letters / got gas / and then went home and gobbled down supper.

(Note: Now "there's" a word you don't hear nowadays anymore: "Can-Can."  You do remember those fluffy slips we wore under our skirts, don't you?!).  :)

Took Mom and Sis on some errands.  Changed clothes and went to pick up Fran.  She had a free pass to go to the show.  We saw "Imitation of Life" (Lana Turner and Sandra Dee).  The beautiful clothes in that movie!!  But it was really sad.  Cried, as usual.  So did everyone else in the theatre.  Got my driver's license in the mail today.

Thursday May 7th ~~~

Went to school and to work, as usual.  Took Mom to the store tonight.  Put some gas in the car.  Came home and washed my hair and went to bed early.

Friday May 8th ~~~

Went to Homer's for dinner.

(Note: I'd say we kept Homer's in business!!).  :)

Went over to cousin Joyce's house to get some information about Dawn (her baby) for my Home Training assignment.  Picked up Fran, Audrey (Yurk, I assume)...on the way back to school.  Went to the show tonight with Fran and Connie (?) (from North).  Saw "Gidget".  Man, that is the best movie I've seen in a long time.  Starred Sandra Dee and Jimmy Darren.  There was also: "Jukebox Rhythm", but we came too late to see it.  Shelby sat with us for awhile.

(Note:  Thinking back...Shelby probably came to sit with us on her break...she worked at the Candy Counter at the Rex Theatre).  

Went to Homer's to eat and then riding around.  Dad came home around suppertime from New York.  Had my hair different today - parted in the middle and curly all over.

Saturday May 9th ~~~

Slept until 11.  Listened to Grace's program (Grace Renzelman) until noon on the radio.  Took a bath.  Went downtown with Mom and spent $14.00.  Put a coat on layaway, bought a bra, socks, pants, cologne, Mother's Day cards, and deodorant.  Also paid $6.00 to rent a typewriter.  Tonight I went to the show to see "Gidget" again (with Karen)...and the other movie we missed last night, "Jukebox Rhythm."  Both were good.  Dad took us and picked us up at Coney Island after.

(Note: My mouth is now watering...thinking about Jumes' delicious Coney Islands!).

Sunday May 10th ~~~

Went to church.  Went to Uncle Roger's house for dinner.  Had a spat with Dad, so I walked home and went to bed all afternoon.  I should just stay home all the time...I only cause trouble.  Went riding by myself early tonight.  Was up in my room almost all night.  Power went off in the neighborhood for a few minutes.  Man, it was dark!!

Monday May 11, 1959 ~~~ Karen and I went to the library and then up in my room tonight.  I typed out a report for Home Training and she looked at my Bride magazines.

Tuesday May 12th ~~~ Shelby and I gave a 52-minute speech in Home Training today.  Wasn't too bad.  Worked until 8:00 p.m.  Was going to go to the Style Show at school, which started at 8, but it was too late.  Had to walk home from work.

Wednesday May 13th ~~~ Got the 52-minute speech off my mind and now I might have to give one in DeWaard's class on Friday.  Oh well.  Dad went (with the truck) to Appleton today and is going to Denver tonight.  Took the car to school.  Went to Thimmig's Drive-In for supper with Mom and Sis.

Thursday May 14th ~~~ Went to school and to work, as usual.  Had the car today.  Tonight I went to a wedding shower for Sandy Scribner, given by Francine's mother (Sandy is Fran's cousin).  I met Shelby and Nacy Dexheimer there.  We talked and had a delicious lunch.  Took them, Mary Koeppen, and Judy Busse home.

Friday May 15th ~~~ DRESS-UP DAY at school.  Wore Mom's white suit and my black leather heels.  I didn't look too hot, but I got some compliments, so I guess it wasn't too bad.  Day of all days, at 7:30 a.m. this morning, the car didn't start.  Karen and I had to take a cab to school.  Fran had a date with Dickie Hermes (Germaine's brother), so I didn't go to the "Y".  I met Mom downtown and we came home about 8:30 p.m.  Tried to start the car, but no luck.  Fried myself some eggs tonight before I went to bed.

Saturday May 16, 1959 ~~~ Slept until 9:30 a.m. when Shelby called.  Took a bath and laid around all afternoon. 

Sunday May 17th ~~~ Didn't go to church ~ slept until noon and woke up with stomach cramps.  Went to The Point with Uncle Rog, Lynn, Mom and Sis.  Went for a ride...out to the Airport.  I went up for a plane ride with Rog and "Skelly" (Joyce's husband).  Lovely!!  Just beautiful up there today.  We couldn't get Mom and Sis to go.  I enjoyed it real much!!  Took some pictures, but don't know if they'll turn out.  Went to the Dairy Queen.  Got a Dilly and my Dilly stick said I could get another "free" one, so I did.  

Had hot tamales for supper.  Dad took the car over to Leary's to be fixed.

Monday May 18th ~~~ Stayed home from school this morning.  Slept until 10:15 a.m.  Took the bus to school this afternoon...car is still being fixed.  Walked to work and home from work.  The car was home when I got home - at 8:00 p.m.  Rode over by Joyce...Mom and Sis were there.  Stayed until 9:00 p.m. - stopped at Demge's Store on the way home.

Tuesday May 19th ~~~ Car didn't start at first, but then it did, later.  Went to school and to work with the car.  It was rather hot and humid all day.  'Twas pouring rain when I left to pick up Karen this morning.  Went home for lunch: A piece of bakery, jello, milk, and 5 sandwiches (baloney, pickles and mayonnaise (5 pieces of bread).  

(Note: That was always my favorite sandwich!).

Got a Bride Handbook in the mail today.

Wednesday May 20th ~~~ The car was pretty good today.  I feel a little uneasy / never knowing if it's gonna start or not.  Got some more Bride books in the mail.

Thursday May 21, 1959 ~~~ Got up and picked up Karen for school.  Only had 2 classes today ~ Social Problems and Clerical Practice.  Sixth period was the Honor Awards Program ~ the Seniors get out early since we didn't see the program.  Took Karen home and took Shelby back to school, she had to meet some other girl.  Then I went to work until 6:30 p.m.  

Went to the Foeste Hotel for supper with Aunt Edna in her 1959 Cadillac (Robin's Egg Blue!).  Nifty!!  Went riding out to the Greenhouse.

(Note: I'm assuming Sheboygan Greenhouses). 

They had a fountain.  Beautiful out tonight ~ full moon and warm.  Rode down to the lake by myself later tonight.

Friday May 22nd ~~~ Went home for lunch today.  Put some gas in the car this noon.  Worked until 6:15 p.m.  Went home and changed clothes and then went downtown to meet Mom and Sis.  Picked up my cap and gown for graduation...$3.55 to keep the tassel.  Sis got a haircut.  Went to...Homer's, (of course!), to eat and went riding until 9:00 p.m.

Saturday May 23rd ~~~ Got up at 9.  Went to pick up my chain at Imig's.  

(Note: Assuming maybe a CHS chain).

Went to Don's Beauty Shop at 10:20 a.m.  Cemout at 2:20 p.m.

(Note: What da?!  Four hours at a beauty shop?!!  Must've gotten a perm or something).

Forgot to eat breakfast so the gals brought me a hamburger and a Pepsi when they got their dinner.

(Note: Well, that was nice...the beauty shop staff brought me dinner!).

Have short hair now ~ feels good.  Cost: $12.50 and I bought some lash mascara for $2.00.  Went downtown.  Met Karen and picked up my rain or shine coat.  Went to Northgate and LaMar's Pharmacy.  Tonight, we went to Helen Finst's Dance Recital with Aunt Norma and Aunt Frieda.  I drove.  It was a cute recital.  Went to Thimmig's Drive-In after.

Sunday May 24th ~~~ Went to Youth Class at church.  Later I picked up Mom and Aunt Frieda from church.  Went to Demge's Store, Aunt Frieda's house for dinner, Hoffman's Flowerland for geraniums.  Looked at two Demonstration Houses today.  Went to...Homer's for supper!  (smile).  Stopped by Uncle Rudy and by Joyce.  So, I was bumming all day.  Stopped and talked to Gramps ~ he was outside.

Monday May 25th ~~~ Went to school and to work.  That's about it for today.

A few of you have asked if there is an activity planned for Friday, 12 Aug 2022.  Since the class reunion committee does not have anything planned, Jack and Geri Zore would like to know if there is enough interest to join the Zore's at 12:30 PM for lunch on Friday, 12 Aug 22.   

This would be a fun low-cost get-together, where the only cost to you, will be the cost of your own food and refreshments.  You will not be required to purchase anything to join the group of classmates present.  However, we need to determine the number of classmates interested by 1 Aug 22, to locate a suitable place to get-together.  If you are interested, please contact Jack or Geri Zore at 920-234-2420 or jcz05@yahoo.com (please note that 05 are numbers).  Your timely input will help us determine if there is an interest for an activity on Friday and if there is, help us find a location which can handle our group at this late date.

If you know any classmate, without an email, please call them and inform them of the Zore's get-together lunch.  We are not planning on sending any mail invitations, so your help calling other classmates is appreciated.

Tuesday May 26th ~~~ Another typical day, going to school and work.  Took and picked up Mom and Aunt Frieda from church meeting.  Got gas in the car = $2.00-worth.

Wednesday May 27th ~~~ Went to school and work. 

(Note: I'm beginning to sound like a broken record.  Sorry).

After work tonight I cut the grass.  Went to bed at 10 and was out like a light.

Thursday May 28th ~~~ Another day of school and work.  Karen and I came to my house this noon to play our school record we got.  It makes us cry.  It has all the activities of 1958-59.  Real nice.  I'll always cherish that record; I bought two of them.  It's sure worth more than the 55-cents we paid for it.  They played some of the record in homeroom this morning.  Had 3 good movies on Chance for Health this afternoon.

Called a Mr. Wagner at Honold & LaPage for an appointment for an office job...through Mr. Sweeney and Miss Felland.  Appointment is next Wednesday.  Stayed home tonight...just went to the dime store for Mom.  Made plans to attend the formal with Jack Stampfel.

May 29th ~~~ Took off from work at 5 to go downtown for a formal.  Went in every store and couldn't find any.  Bought a dress for the Senior Banquet at Penney's ~ $12.95.  Ate supper at Bock's Drugstore with Mom and Sis.  Also bought some earrings to go with my dress.  Drew $50 out of my bank account.  After I got home, I went to the "Y" with Fran.  Went to McDonald's to eat...across from Homer's Drive-In.  Good food!

(Note: Back then, McDonald's was new to the area.  Little did we know, huh?!!).

Got home about 12:30.  Took a sun bath...bought a sun lamp for $9.95.  

Saturday May 30th ~~~ Memorial Day ~~~ Took Mom to the cemetery about 7:30 this morning...to put flowers on the graves.  Later, I picked up Fran, Karen, and Audrey Yurk and we went to the parade.  (Mom and Sis went with us).  Took Mom and Sis home.  Drove out to Plymouth, to WPLY radio station (Grace Renzelman's program).  They played some song requests for us.  Rode all over for the rest of the day: Cedar Lake (stopped at Aunt Edna's cottage), Kiel, Howards Grove, Millersville, Sheboygan Falls, Kohler, and Ada.  Stopped at Kiel for some ice cream.

Had a tall ball!  Wore Burmuda shorts.  I picked up souvenirs, dandelions, etc.  Then, before we left we were at McDonald's for dinner ~ had 7 hamburgers between us four.  

Went to the show tonight (Audrey did not go).  Saw "The Young Philadelphians" with Paul Newman and "Hey Boy, Hey Girl" (Keely Smith and Louis Prima).  Paul was good, but the movie wasn't that great.  

Took a sun bath tonight.  Hope to have a tan for the formal.

(Note: Just thought of it now...I still have that sun lamp...somewhere in my "stuff.")    :)

Sunday May 31st ~~~ Went to church.  Took another sun bath.  Went to Baccalaureate.  Took some pictures.  Thought I had color film in my camera, but I used the wrong film.  Could've cried at the Baccalaureate, but I held back the tears.  Aunt Norma, Joyce, Aunt Frieda, and Mom were there.  My legs were shaking when I got to my row to my seat.  Oh boy!  Alot of kids were crying.  Finally, I am getting a little red from my sun baths.

It is with sadness I announce the passing of my friend Suzan Brown.  She was a resident of Terrace Estates in Sheboygan and made her transition on Wednesday June 8, 2022.  She was united in marriage to her first husband, Owen Kovacich, Sr. in 1959.  (That was when I remember getting together with them.  Suzan and Owen's son, Dale, is now good friends with my sons).  She then married Wesley Koran, Jr. on June 22, 1979.   Suzan loved to travel and was known to be a social butterfly and always on the go.

RICHARD ALLEN KRUEGER

It is with heavy hearts we lost a husband, a father, and a dear friend to many.  Richard (Dick) Allen Krueger, a resident of Brillion, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday May 27th, 2011 at Garrow Villa.

He was born August 21, 1941 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, son of the late Elmer and Hildegarde Krueger. Dick was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School where he was a star football player.  On April 24th, 1965, he married his wife of 57 years, the love of his life, JoAnne Poppe).

Richard served in the U.S. Army for 3 years.  He was employed the majority of his life in sales.  In his later years, he worked for Gannett and Zander Press, delivering rural news papers.  Dick was a member of th American Legion.  He was an avid fisherman of all sorts.  You name it, he could catch it!  Dick loved to golf, play cards of all sorts, and loved to play blackjack at the casinos.  He hunted pheasant with the beloved family Springer Spaniel, "Barnee".  He loved to travel.  Dick went on many family vacations through the years.  He and JoAnne were snowbirds, traveling all over in their motorhome with their beloved Yorkshire Terrier "Snickers", in tow.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, JoAnne; his son Todd (Melanie) of Brillion; and daughter JoEllen (Jack) of Reedsville, Wisconsin.  He is further survived by step-children, step-grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, 1 brother, 2 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, and a niece.

A private funeral service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Kohler, Wisconsin on Friday, June 17th at 2:00 p.m.  A celebration of life for Dick will be on Saturday, June 18th.  For all of those who would like to pay their respects and share memories of Dick, the family would love for you to join us from 1-5 p.m. at his son's home outside of Brillion at 24428 Taus Road.

A special thank you to the staff at Garrow Villa.  Dick was a handful, but you made it clear he was a heartful as well.  Also thank you to Compassus Hospice.

Until we see you again, Dad, take care of Barnee and Snickers.

Tuesday April 21, 1959 ~~~ Made an appointment for my road test on Thursday morning.

Wednesday April 22nd ~~~ Stayed home from school this morning and went out driving.  I know how to park now.  Parked a couple of times tonight, too, since I got done working early.  Dear Diary...wish me luck in the morning with my driver's test.

Thursday April 23rd ~~~ Passed my driver's test this morning!  Parked perfect.  One mistake...stopping over yellow line at stop sign.  Went and told the whole relation tonight!  Picked up Karen and Fran tonight and we went to Homer's.  Came home around 10.  Put one dollars-worth of gas in the car.  Wasn't nervous for the test.  I got a real nice cop...the one I wanted.

Friday April 24th ~~~ Waited all day to have the car ~ didn't get it until 10 o'clock tonight.  Dad didn't want me to have it because he had to put a mirror on it yet.  Anyway, I picked up Karen and Fran and we went to Homer's for a hamburger.  Didn't have too much gas in the car, so I went home again.

Saturday April 25th ~~~ Daylight Saving Time starts.  Got up around 9:00 a.m.  Went to put gas in the car.  Tonight Karen and I got dressed up and went to the show to see Ricky Nelson in "Rio Bravo."  (Also starring Dean Martin and John Wayne).  Went riding around, Homer's, show, Herziger's, peeked in a public wedding and they quiet just when we walked in.  Rode around some more.  Put another dollar's-worth of gas in the car tonight.

(Note: I'll bet we're all surprised at that "dollars-worth" of gas!  Picture doing that today.  We wouldn't get very far).   :)

Sunday April 26th ~~~ Went to church this morning.  Stopped by Karen tonight.  Stopped by Fran, too.  Came home and watched TV - Tab Hunter was on a Spectacular from 8-10:00 p.m.  He starred with Jane Powell.

Monday April 27th ~~~ Got up late for school - 7:30.  Made it though.  Dad took me.  Stayed home this afternoon and slept....didn't feel good.  Shelby stayed home from school today, too.  Went to work though.

Tuesday April 28th ~~~ Stayed home from school today.  Didn't feel much like going.  Went to work.  I took the car tonight.  Got a hamburger at Herziger's and rode around North Point.

Wednesday April 29th ~~~ Dad too me to school this morning.  Picked up Wendy Bohannon on the way (she lives in our neighborhood).  Shelby got her hair cut on Monday.  Went to apply about a job at the Court House after school.  Have to go back Friday.  Took a ride up by Gramps tonight with the family...and over to Dad's brother, Spike's house.  Was going to do homework, but didn't.  Got a letter from Kathy (cousin) and also some stuff I sent for from my Bride magazine.

Thursday April 30th ~~~ Ate supper alone at Homer's.  Went to the library and did homework (had the car).  Washed my hair.  Got some more stuff from Bride magazine.

Saturday April 11, 1959 ~~~ Got up around 9:30 a.m.  Went to Pat Slavens' wedding this afternoon.  (Co-worker at Olson Transportation).  She sure looked pretty.  Then went downtown.  Bought a green cotton dress for $3.99.  Looked for a hat; didn't find one.  Tonight Fran, Carol Burkhardt, Judy Widder, Karen Griessmeyer, and Dorothy Dault came over.  Phyllis Pluskat and Fran Warner were going to come, but didn't know where I lived.  We met them out at Schmidty's and lost them on the way home.  Karen took us out there.

Sunday April 12th ~~~ Went to Everett's Lodge for dinner with family.  Then went to Sopetto's in Falls and bowled two games (108 and 125).  Went to Aunt Edna's house and then to Herziger's for supper.  I drove to and from Falls and to and from Herziger's.

(Note: You know how it was...a big thing!...when you first get your driving privileges...you want to drive ALL THE TIME!)

Monday April 13th ~~~ Got up late for school, but I made it.  I drove with Dad.  Bought another dress like the one I bought Saturday, only it's an apricot color.  Worked until 7:30 p.m.  Washed and set my hair tonight.  Saw Tab Hunter on TV (Arthur Murray Dance Party).  He won the dance contest.  Nice!  He did the jitterbug he knew in high school.  I got my Betty Crocker looseleaf cookbook today!  It's real nice.

(Note: I am still using that cookbook today).   :)

Tuesday April 14th ~~~ Absolutely nothing is new.  'Twas real nice out all day and tonight.  Didn't even wear a scarf.  Bought 2 pair of ankle socks this noon.

(Note: Wear a scarf?  In April?  I don't get it).

Wednesday April 15th ~~~ Mom & Dad went to Milwaukee today with the Zimmy's ~ to the Home Show.  Was real warm out today...an unbelievable 72 degrees!  Karen, Shelby (Neese) and I walked down to the lake this noon.  (Penn Avenue).

Thursday April 16th ~~~ Came home for lunch today/for a change.  Dad picked me up and I drove back.  Worked until after 7:30 p.m. tonight.  Uncle Al stopped in tonight and showed us his new 1957 Ford.  Did some homework tonight.

Friday April 17th ~~~ Met Fran downtown after I ate supper at Hill's.  We took the bus home.  The family went by Grandma Williams.  I called when I got done dressing and they took me and Fran to the "Y".  (Foreign Student Follies).  Have some guys from school that sound like The Jewels.  Pretty good.  They were: Artie Schildbach and Steve Guetschow's brothers.  Jack Stampfel took us,  and Ray (Hoffmann?), and Dan (Liebelt?) out to Bauer's.  Had a  7-Up.

Saturday April 18th ~~~ Slept until noon.  Washed my hair.  Did homework all afternoon and part of tonight.

Sunday April 19th ~~~ Left around 9 this morning for Milwaukee with Aunt Edna and Uncle Art, Lois and Art (more relatives).  The guys were going to go to the baseball game and so was I, but it was called off because it's so cold outside - 35 degrees.  We ate lunch at the Pan American Club.  Visited some relatives in Milwaukee.  Had supper at The Chalet on the Lake.  What an exclusive place!  Wow!  Had delicious ham.

(Note: The Chalet, I believe was in Mequon).

Monday April 20th ~~~ Drove the car to Demge's Store this morning.  Wasn't open, so I drove around the neighborhood for awhile.  Went to bed early last night, but was still tired all day.  Slept in 6th period.  I guess school is just too boring.

(Note: I slept in school?  Really??!!!!).

When I got to work I wasn't tired anymore.  Worked until 8:00 p.m.  Marcia Guetschow got engaged to an Air Force guy (Bob), this noon.  So did JoAnn Klunk (Saturday) to Alan Zimmermann.

Friday May 1, 1959 ~~~ Had another boring day of school.  Had the car tonight - went to the "Y" with Fran.  The Jewels were playing and we danced about every dance.

(Note: Man, that was the best!  Danced "every" dance.  Wish I would still be doing that).

Man, was I hot (warm in the gym)!  But I felt like dancing.  Sat around with Jack (Stampfel) and Danny (Liebelt) for awhile.  Fran and I went to Homer's after ~ rode past Schmidty's and stopped at the Patio.  Most of the kids were pretty well loaded.  I don't go for that anymore...I get too moody.  Came home a little after 12:30.

Saturday May 2nd ~~~ Worked from 8-12 p.m.  Wash and waxed the car - which took all afternoon.  Helped Dad get ready to leave.  He left for New York with the truck.  Mom, Sis, and I went to Homer's for supper.  

Went to the school play tonight: "Gramercy Ghost".  It was real good.  Went with Karen and Fran.  Went to Big Jim's to eat afterwards.  Then stopped at Turner Hall - Phyllis Crneckiy's brother's wedding.  Danced for awhile.  Ericka (Lueck), Rita (Landgraf), Carol (Burkhardt), and them were there, too.  Left around 12:30 and went to Herziger's to eat ... again.  Rode around North Point and that was it.

Sunday May 3rd ~~~ Went to church with the car.  (Many get-togethers with relatives today).  Answered Karen Weber's letter tonight.  She wrote me one on Friday night.  Was going to go to the show tonight, but Mom wouldn't let me.  Wanted to go to St. Mark's Church this afternoon for an organ recital.  Mom said, "No."  No, no, no...that's all I hear!

Monday May 4th ~~~ Had an all-day test in school on everything we learned since 8th grade.  I didn't know half the stuff.  And Algebra...I didn't even have it.  Oh well.  The car was at the garage today for the brakes to be fixed, so I walked home from work.  Watched TV tonight.

Tuesday May 5th ~~~ Had tornado warnings today.  Took the car to school today and to work...for the first time.  Took Karen along to school.  Came early and got a parking space right by the door.

(Note: I remember that parking space very well.  Think of it every time I go down that street...it was the first space right near Mr. DeWaard's room...and I kind of "adopted" that space, because I was usually early on arriving every day.

Tonight, I picked up Mom and Aunt Frieda and took them to a church meeting.  Karen and I picked up Shelby at work and went to Homer's.  Then we went over to the Army Reserves - Eugene (Koll) was there/Shelby's boyfriend.  Karen brought a little bank along...to collect money for me for gas in the car.

Wednesday April 1, 1959 ~~~ Dad bought a new '53 Buick today.  I drove it home from work part way.  Real gone, man!  All I need now is a license.  Went to Riverdale for supper for Aunt Edna's birthday.

Thursday April 2nd ~~~ Worked until 8:30 tonight.  Co-worker, Mildred, and I did a whole bunch of filing.  Dad picked me up from work.

Friday April 3rd ~~~ Got done working at 6:00 p.m. already.  Drove the car with Dad to the store from work and then home.  Couldn't get any transportation, so Fran and I didn't go to Schmidty's tonight.  I'm so darn sick of staying home.  Went to Citizen's Bank at 5th period Study Hall with Sophie Juozapaitis (she works in the school bank, too).

Saturday April 4th ~~~ Walked to and from work this morning.  Worked from 8-12:00 p.m.  Went for a ride all afternoon.  Took Grandma Williams and my cousin, Susie along.  Stopped at Central Science Fair.  Got some hamburgers for supper.  Played some Royal Rummy.  Watched TV.  They went home about 8:00 p.m.  Washed and set my hair and took a bath.  Fran called tonight.  Mom and Dad washed the car this morning.  It sure looks sharp!

Sunday April 5th ~~~ Went to Youth Class this morning.  Walked home with Sis, since it was over 50 degrees out.  Just wore my suit.  Was a bit windy though.  Got some gas at Stampfel's (Jack Stampfel's father's Shell station).  Dad let me drive all around town this afternoon.  Nice!  Tried to park - couldn't!  Ugh!  Fran called to go to the show tonight.  I didn't feel like it.

Monday April 6th ~~~ Mom and Dad's Anniversary!  Went to school and ate in the Cafeteria.  Dad picked me up from school.  Watched the Academy Awards show on TV tonight.  Best movie was: "Gigi" / Best actor: David Niven / Best actress: Susan Hayward (She's from the movie: "I Want To Live").  That was on from 9:30 until 11:15 p.m.

Tuesday April 7th ~~~ Worked until 8:00 p.m.  (Got some hamburgers with Mildred at work and then ate a big supper when I got home at 9:00 p.m.).  There's an ad in the paper about a job at Badger Freightways ~ for a typist.  I might apply.

Wednesday April 8th ~~~ Mr. Hahn called Badger Freightways for me/about that job.  Got report cards today: Social Problems - B+ / Bank - A / Clerical Practice B- / Home Training - Incomplete  Not too good, but not too bad either.  I guess the Incomplete will turn into an "F" - all because I didn't work at the hospital.  Karen (Weber), wasn't in school today - she had to go to her cousin's funeral.

Thursday April 9th ~~~ Renewed my Temps today.  Went by Grandma Williams for supper/after work.  Played some Canasta.  Came home around 10.  Washed and set my hair.

Friday April 10th ~~~ Teacher's Convention, so no school.  I cleaned up the basement this morning, for party tomorrow night.  Worked from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.  My check was $22.55 today.  Went to the "Y" with Fran tonight...the Jewels were playing.  Dad took us down.  We got a ride home with Jack (Stampfel?).  We stopped at Homer's and had a Coke.

Wednesday March 25th, 1959 ~~~ Got up around 9:00 a.m.  Easter vacation.  Sat around all morning.  Worked from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Aunt Edna and Uncle Art stopped over tonight to see Dad.  Aunt Edna taught me a new solitaire game.

Thursday March 26th ~~~ Slept until 9.  Worked from 3 until about 5:30 p.m.  Dad's friend, Red Carlson, stopped in tonight to see him.  Sis said Lyle (Wirtz) and Rodney (Wiegele) were over today and asked where somebody lives (I was upstairs).  She wasn't sure if it was them or not.  I doubt it.  Tab Hunter sang "Apple Blossom Time" on Pat Boone Show tonight.  Tab broke his arm and was in a cast.

Good Friday / March 27th ~~~ Worked from 4 to about 7:00 p.m.  Met the family, and Rog and Lynn downtown.  My hair looks just terrible!  I've decided to get them cut-short!

Saturday March 28th ~~~ Sat around the house all day.  Roger and Lynnie were here for supper.  Colored 3 dozen Easter eggs tonight.  Dad's brother, Spike, stopped in this morning.  Tab Hunter sang two songs on Dick Clark tonight!  Wow!!  He had an accident while making a movie - still has his arm in a sling.

Easter Sunday / March 29th ~~~ Went to church, for the Flower Service.  Other than that, this has been a very uneventful day.  I walked over to Joyce's house this afternoon.  Stopped at Demge's Store and had a Coke on the way.  Stayed at Joyce's for supper and rode home with Uncle Al (Joyce's dad), at 7:30 p.m.  Aunt Norma stayed home today...she had a bad headache.  Nothing to do around here...so I watched Loretta Young and went to bed.

Monday March 30th ~~~ Went downtown this morning.  Bought another scrapbook and deposited some money in the bank.  Worked from 1:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.  Shirley (Shellingosky) has the measles.  Watched TV and worked on my scrapbook tonight.

Tuesday March 31st ~~~ Back to school - not too bad.  Worked until 8 tonight.

Tuesday March 17th, 1959 ~~~ Took off from school this afternoon...to visit Dad, who is at St. Nick Hospital...had surgery.

Wednesday March 18th ~~~ Another day - another dollar.  Another $5.50 - I paid for my ticket to Madison tomorrow.  Counted $1701.00 from tickets in the bank today...all that money!!  Wow!  Washed and set my hair tonight.

Thursday March 19th ~~~ Left school around 8:30 this morning for Madison with about 6 buses.  We lost the game against Eau Claire by 3 points.  Ate in a cafeteria.  Came home around 10:00 p.m.  Got wet feet-all the snow was melting.  Walked around (University of Wisconsin) the campus before and after the game.  The guys on our bus drank about 10 quarts of soda and had potato chips, popcorn, etc., too.  Mr Parnell was our chaperone.  Madison is pretty nice and boy, do they ever have the cute guys there!

Friday March 20th ~~~ Back to school!  Listened to the basketball game in 4th period.  We won today.  Left and went to the hospital after 4th period to visit Dad.  Uncle Harley came up...he gave me a ride to work.  Wasted 65-cents tonight.  Took a cab (40-cents), to the "Y" with Fran.  Paid 25-cents to get in and hardly anyone was there.  Walked home.  Was rather mad at Fran because she never walks me part-way home.  So, I walked alone, as usual.

Saturday March 21st ~~~ Slept until noon.  Have a slight cold from all the wet feet and walking home.  Went up to the hospital to see Dad this afternoon and then went downtown.  He's coming home tomorrow.  Watched TV and babysat Sis tonight while Mom & Joyce went up to the hospital to see Dad.

Sunday March 22nd ~~~ Went to church this morning.  Went with Uncle Benjie to pick up Dad from the hospital this afternoon.  My cold is worse.  Sat around the rest of the afternoon and tonight.  Watched TV.  After the Loretta Young Show I took 2 aspirins, some heated brandy with water, and off to bed.

Monday March 23rd ~~~ Slept until 10:30 a.m.  Uncle Spike and my cousin, Janie, stopped over this morning.  I slept all afternoon, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.  Watched TV tonight.  Gramps stopped over this afternoon.  No mail today...just a pamphlet from a college in Missouri.  School didn't even call.  Mom called the office for me.  I feel better today, only a little clogged up in the head.  Was real warm out today-over 50 degrees!  Marlene Pirrung was in an auto accident Friday.  She's in the hospital.

Tuesday March 24th ~~~ Went to school and to work today with a stuffy head.  Sat and watched TV tonight.

Monday March 9th, 1959 ~~~ Worked until 8:30 p.m. 

Tuesday March 10th ~~~ Worked until 7:00 p.m.  Dad picked me up.  Went home, changed clothes, and ate.  Then Dad took me down to the Armory for the W.I.A.A. Basketball Tournament.  I met Fran (McDermott), Georgine (Littman), Audrey (Yurk), Janice (Schmidt?  Wollert?), Gail (Groskopf), and Barbara (Berndt).  We won the game against Fonday...it was overtime.  We got a trophy.  Georgine had the car - we rode out to Schmidty's, had one beer, and left again.  Talked to Eddie Wodach and Rodney Wiegele.  Came home at 11:45 p.m.  Washed and set my hair.

Wednesday March 11th ~~~ Nothing much is new.  Did schoolwork all day in school...for a change.  Walked home.  Heard "Rock Island Line" on the radio tonight.

Thursday March 12th ~~~ Went by Joyce tonight to celebrate her birthday.

Friday March 13th ~~~ Shelby is mad at me and Karen for some reason or another.  I guess it's because we never go in the gym with her during noon hour.  She ate downtown this noon.  She talked to me this afternoon though.  Ran into Mom and Dad after school so got a ride to work.  Walked downtown after and met them.

Saturday March 14th ~~~ Was supposed to work at 8, but had such stomach cramps, so I didn't go.  Listened to Grace Renzelman on the radio.  Shelby called.  She didn't go to work either.  Sat around all day.  Slept for awhile this afternoon.  Watched TV from 4-8:00 p.m.

Sunday March 15th ~~~ Snow blizzard again.  Didn't go to church.  Slept until noon.  Sat around all afternoon.  Played some Canasta and Royal Rummy with the family.  Uncle Rog and Lynn came over tonight.

Monday March 16th ~~~ Got a ride to school with one of the neighbors.  I'm going to Madison Thursday for a basketball tournament.

Under the direction of Mrs. Mary Gentry, the Red Cross undertook various projects throughout the year.  Its main projects included providing of typists and checkers at the Blood Bank, making favors for the Veterans Hospital at Wood, Wisconsin, buying Christmas gifts for Rocky Knoll patients, helping with Christmas gifts for the old folks home, and a new project of helping the handicapped and mentally retarded at the Sheboygan Rehabilitation Center.  The Sheboygan Red Cross was also organized.  This year's officers were: Mary Jo Loersch, president, and Judy Beiersdorf, secretary.  The picture was restricted to active members.

Sunday March 1st, 1959 ~~~ Slept 'til 12:30.  Ate dinner.  Looked at a magazine and watched TV.  (Note: Oh boy!  Whatta life!).  Watched more TV tonight.  Dad called tonight from Iowa.  Doesn't know when he'll get home.  

Monday March 2nd ~~~ Nothing much is new.  Aunt Frieda is staying overnight tonight.

Tuesday March 3rd ~~~ Went on a tour through St. Nicholas Hospital this morning for Home Training class.  Walked through the halls - didn't see the babies in nursery or anything like that.  After that we stopped at a restaurant and got a bite to eat.  Some kids went right back to school and we got back about ten minutes later.  No one said anything, so we got away with it.  We're seniors - so live it up!  Talked to Janet (Mueller) and Karen (Weber) tonight on the phone.

Wednesday March 4th ~~~ Donnie came to school drunk this morning.  I guess he slept it off in homeroom.  Karen sits right in front of him.  (Note: I'm not mentioning his last name).  Karen and I were going to go over by Janet tonight, but she had to take care of her brother.  We've been trying to get over there since November.

Thursday March 5th ~~~ It's been snowing and drifting all day.  Worked until 8:30 tonight.  Called a cab.  The driver and another guy got stuck and struggled to get out - no luck.  Finally I drove and I had the car out 1-2-3!  Maybe it's because two guys were pushing, but if you ask me...the driver didn't know how to operate it.  Got home around 9.  Read my mail and ate supper.  Went out and shoveled the sidewalk.  Felt like staying out yet, so I made a snowman.  Crazy!  Miss those days when we played in the snow.  Read the paper, washed and set my hair.  Ate a big dish of ice cream...mmmmm!  Dad called from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Friday March 6th ~~~ Shoveled the sidewalk this morning - no school.  We're having another snow blizard.  Could have gone to work this morning, but I didn't want to because the buses and cabs might stop running and then I couldn't get home.  Sat around all afternoon.  Played Canasta with Mom.  Went to Demge's Store.  Didn't get along with Mom and Sis tonight, so I stayed up in my room all night and looked at my Bride magazine.  (Note: Never did get the bridal gown I was hoping for).  Heard "Party Doll" on the radio today.

Saturday March 7th ~~~ Sat around most of the morning.  Dad came home early this morning.  Sis and I walked over by Joyce this afternoon.  Mom and Dad came later and then we went grocery shopping.  After supper, Mom, Dad and I played a game of Canasta.  It lasted for about 2 hours.  I was ahead, but Dad won in the end.

Sunday March 8th ~~~ Went to church this morning.  Some relatives came over this afternoon and stayed until around 8;30.  Aunt Frieda came right from church.  Sat around and played with baby Dawn.  Fran called...she wanted to go to the show.  Nope!  I watched Loretta Young on TV.

Press today for Jacob "Jack" N. Jung, Jr.  I am not certain if this is
indeed our classmate, as it was not mentioned where and when he
graduated from high school.  I am looking into it ~ and will post

Monday February 23, 1959  No mail today...it's George Washington's birthday.  Walked home from work tonight.  Met Barbara Kramer on the way, so we walked together.  It snowed all night and was it ever beautiful at 6:30 this morning!  Everything was white!  I took a picture.  Only had one flashbulb.  Mom took some later, outside.  It was really beautiful.  I'll never forget it.  It's sloppy out tonight though.  Watched TV tonight.

Tuesday February 24th --- Walked to work after school.  The family picked me up from work tonight.  Dad went to get his truck ~ he's leaving for Missouri.

Wednesday February 25th --- Gramps, Mom, and Sis picked me up from work tonight.  Hazel was gone bowling.  Watched "I'VE GOT A SECRET" on TV.  Wrote a letter to Red.  Got a cold coming on again...I just hope it doesn't end in measles.

Thursday February 26th --- Walked home from work tonight ~ snow, ice, and water ~ everywhere!  Watched TV and washed and set my hair tonight.

Friday February 27th --- Worked until after 8 tonight.  Met Fran downtown.  Ate supper.  Walked down to the Armory for the last basketball game...with Fran and Gail Ketz.  Janice and Audrey came later.  We went to the "Y".  It was lousy.  We were sitting in the Dugout with Jack Stampfel and Ray Hoffmann.  I talked to Jim Kollmeyer.  Jan, Audrey, Ray and Jack went home.  Fran and I walked to her house ~ got wet feet.  Her dad took me home from there.

Saturday February 28th --- Worked at St. Nicholas Hospital from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon.  Suzan Brown gave me a ride up there.  Never again!  Had to give a lady a bedpan and gave a man a bath.  Watched the nurse wash 3 other men.  Had to feed an old blind lady ~ she was so nice...said a prayer for her.  Was glad to get out of there.  (Note: This was an assignment we had to do for school.  I never did forget that day.  I still think about it whenever I go past the old St. Nick hospital building.  That was quite an experience: a high school girl giving an old man a bath).  Ate at Hill's with Shelby.  Didn't eat breakfast ~ felt too sick.  Eugene picked Shelby up and I met Mom at 2:00 p.m.  Bought a pair of shoes for $3.33 for school.

Wednesday February 18, 1959 --- Shelby got sick in school this morning so she went home.  Went with the family to the Town House for supper.  Went to have my graduation cap and gown measured this noon.  Bought Mr. DeWaard a candy bar for Teacher Appreciation Day at school...from the homeroom.

Thursday February 19th --- Nothing much new.  Germaine Luckow is engaged.  Tula went to Arizona with Jerry Faas.  Marcia has her job now at 4-0.  Got a letter from Red.  Fran got the measles in school this morning so she had to go home.

Friday February 20th --- Fran has the measles, so I am staying home tonight.  I called her.  Karen was gonna come over tonight and I was going to run over to Demge's Store and get two quarts of "Kings."  (Note:  Now you "know" what "that" is, don't you?!  Kingsbury Beer!!).  But...she got company, so she didn't come.  I went downtown after work.  Made an appointment at the dentist for 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.  Bought a Tab Hunter album.  Also: "I've Had It!" record ~ played by the Bell Notes.  (Note: I drove my Mom nuts with that song...played it ALL THE TIME, over and over.!  I'll bet my Mom thought "I've had it!" ...with that song!) (smile)

Took a bath tonight.  Watched Jack Paar and then went to bed.  There's a basketball game at Manty tonight.  We lost.  I was going to take off from work and go with MaryJo (Loersch), but it's a good thing I didn't because she didn't get the car.

Saturday February 21st --- Slept 'til 9:30 a.m.  Went to the dentist ~ have to go back and have teeth cleaned.  No cavities!  (Note: Remember: "Look Ma, No Cavities!").  Went to the Clinic and had my 3rd Polio shot.  Went to eat.  Monkeyed around in my room all afternoon.  Didn't go to our basketball game tonight with Karen ~ no transportation.  Family went over to Red's house tonight.  Washed and set my hair.  Wrote to Red.  Got a letter from Red today...with an advertisement about joining the Navy.

Sunday February 22nd --- Went to church this morning.  Monkeyed around in my room all afternoon and all night.  At 9 o'clock I watched Loretta Young on TV in the basement (rec room), since our TV is on the bum.  The family went out to eat; don't know where they went after that.

Thursday February 12, 1959 --- Took some pictures of the house this morning with all the snow.  Worked until almost 8 tonight.  Walked up to Fran's and sat and talked about the fun we had when Red was home.  Left her house at 9 and walked home.  Real nice outside.  Moved the car up to our house...it was way down the street due to the storm.  Renewed my temps.  Bought 2 boxes of candy ($1.75 apiece), for Valentine's Day for gifts...and a little Valentine.  Washed my hair tonight.

Friday February 13th --- Worked until 8 again tonight.  Went downtown and ate ~ Mom was with Rog (her brother).  He gave me a ride down to the Armory for the North/Central game.  We won: 63-59.  Went with Fran, Janice Schmidt, and Audrey Yurk.  Went to the "Y" after.  Around 11:30 Dan Leibelt and Ray Hoffmann went home...and Jack Stampfel gave us a ride to Schmidty's.  Rodney was there.  Had 2 beers and they were ready to close up.  Jack took us home.  Got a letter from Red today.

Saturday February 14th / VALENTINE'S DAY --- Slept 'til 11.  This afternoon Mom and I walked over by Joyce for supper.  Sis came over there later from a birthday party.  After supper I went home.  I was moody.  I stayed up until 12:30, watching a good movie on TV about the Marines.

Sunday February 15th --- Went to church this morning.  Got $1.00 from Aunt Frieda and a pretty hanky from Aunt Norma for Valentine's Day.  Laid down for awhile this afternoon.  Met Karen (Weber) and Fran at 5 and we walked to the show to see "THE PERFECT FURLOUGH" (Army movie) with Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis.  Second feature was: "YOUR PAST IS SHOWING."  Walked home...came in at 10:10 p.m. with the upper part of my legs FROZEN!  Put vaseline on.

Monday February 16th --- Karen wrote me a note in school.  Fran got her second letter from Red today.

Tuesday February 17th --- Karen and I were going to go to a Bridal Show at Prange's tonight, but we didn't have any transportation.  Stayed home with Sis while Mom went to her card club meeting.  Washed and set my hair.  Dad left during the night for Janesville, Wisconsin.  He'll be back later tonight.

Saturday February 7, 1959 --- Went to work at 8.  Worked (cleaned the desks), until 12:30 p.m.  Walked downtown and ate.  Dad came home this afternoon.  I was home alone for the night.  Wish I was out at Schmidty's with Red ~ he and another guy went.  He did ask me to come along ~ I should've gone.

Sunday February 8th --- Didn't go to church this morning.  Slept late.  Grandma Williams came for dinner.  We played Canasta this afternoon.  At 6:30 p.m. Dad took me to the depot to see Red off.  I wanted Fran to come along, but she refused.  Red would've liked that.  I held back the tears ~ until I got back home.  Tonight we took Grandma out to see Aunt Edna's house.

Monday February 9th --- Decided I had better go to school today ~ although I didn't feel like it.   Don't know how good I've got it.  Don't have too much to make up, but I figured that out ahead of time.  Dad picked me up from work tonight.  He is leaving tonight for Albany, New York.  Watched a little TV tonight, and read the paper.

Tuesday February 10th --- Had a terrific snow blizzard ~ so I didn't have to go to school or work.  Over the radio, the announcer told everybody to stay home.  The snow plows couldn't even get through.  I helped Dad shovel a little bit.  (Note: He obviously didn't get to go to New York either, with the snow storm and all).  The snow is up to my waist.  Took everything out of my hope chest and monkeyed around in my room all day.  Went back to bed this morning since there was no school.  Washed some of my sweaters tonight.  Watched TV.  Tab Hunter was on TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES this noon ~ and he kissed 4 ladies.  Mmm.  Some consequence!  Mailman didn't come; no mail delivered today.

Wednesday February 11th --- Couldn't make it through the snow this morning since they didn't plow or shovel ~ so I went back to bed until 11:30 and went to school this afternoon.  There were alot of kids absent.  The bus only went as far as 17th Street.  Joyce picked me up from work and I went along grocery shopping with her, Mom, and Sis.  Went by Joyce's house for a few minutes.  Dad left after dinner for Albany.  Bought 5 donuts after school ~ and ate 4.  Eat ~ that's all I do.  Bought a 4-cup percolator coffee pot at Sentry for $1.00 ($2.00 with a pound of coffee).

Sunday February 1, 1959 --- Went to church this morning.  Rod called.  (Note: I believe this was Rodney Wiegele).  He called while I was gone.  Then he called later from Schmidty's and within 1/2 hour he came to pick me up (he came with Red Kampmann).  We went to get Fran (McDermott) at her brother's house/and rode to Manitowoc.  We all had fun.  Was home by 10:00 p.m.

Monday February 2nd --- Was tired in school today.  Always thinking about the fun weekend Fran and I had with the guys.

Tuesday February 3rd --- Walked home from work.  Had called a cab and waited-outside-for almost a half hour.  I finally gave up and walked home.  Red came over tonight (Note: He's a friend of the family)...and we just sat and talked.

Wednesday February 4th --- Dad came home from a trip with the truck today.  He picked me up from work.  The folks went to PTA Stunt Night.  Red came over to visit again tonight.  He bought a record album for Fran with their song: "Who Needs You" (they danced to that song at the "Y" one summer).  The Big Bopper was killed in a plane crash - he sang "Chantilly Lace."  Also, two other singers-one was the guy who sang "Donna."  I bought a record: "I Cried a Tear" by Lavern Baker.

Thursday February 5th --- Took off from school - slept until noon.  Listened to records.  Rode to work with Aunt Edna; she took Mom, Sis, and Aunt Frieda to the store and out to eat.  Walked to Fran's after work.  Took the cab from her house to mine.  She called Red and thanked him for the record.  He asked us to come over.  (Actually, Red and I planned this out last night).  We watched some of his home movies.  Real cute!  Came home about 10:30 p.m.  Red walked Fran home.  He's leaving Sunday night at 6:53 on the train.  (Note: He was in the Navy).  Dad left this morning for Louisville, Kentucky, with the truck.

Friday February 6th --- Took off from school again.  Cleaned my room.  Talked to Red on the phone...and also to Shelby (Neese)...she took off of school today, too.  Went to work.  Sat around after I came home from work.  Thought maybe Red would call, but he never did.  Watched a movie tonight, about the Air Force.  Ate alot of food today...from one extreme to another.  Last week I didn't eat anything hardly.

WHERE DID THE TIME GO.  IT SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY. 

WELL MAYBE A BIT MORE   SEE ALL IN AUGUST.

 If you know of any classmates who may be interested, give them a call.  Just let Jack or Geri know at 920-234-2420 or jcz05@yahoo.com, so Jack can give the Restaurant a head count by noon on Wednesday 3/16/22.  We start gathering any time after 4 PM, but we usually order our meals around 5 PM.

Ray made his transition in March of 2020.
He lived and worked his entire life in
Sheboygan.  We, his family, friends,

February 19, 2022 ~ Word was received of the passing of our classmate Sandra Bassler (Henseleit).  Sandy resided in New Berlin, Wisconsin and she grew up in Sheboygan.  She made her transition on Monday December 21, 2021.  Her full obituary can be viewed in our IN MEMORY section.  Belated condolences are extended to Sandy's family.

A new waitress took the picture and cut off some of the attendees.  The following were in attendance- L-R ) Partially shown is Jerry Sabrowsky, followed by Bob Melzer, Sharon and Clyde Kometer, Eric Ziller, Dick Sorenson, Jack Zore, Wally and Jackie Simonich, Phil Knauf, Tom and Betty Repenshek, and last but not least although only partcially showing is Kathy Haack Wessel.  The group had a lot of fun getting together.  Hope to see more of you next month on 16 March 2022.

RANDALL ROGER THIMMIG ~~~ 59, made his transition at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee on Thursday February 3, 2022.  Our son had gone through so many health issues over the past two years ~ his passing has been a blessing.  He put up a brave fight ~ but just couldn't anymore.  Randy was born June 9, 1962, the son of Darla (Altman) and Roger Thimmig.  A full-fledged hunter and fisherman entered our lives.  Those hobbies were the highlights of his life.

Randy always had many hilarious stories to tell about when he went on the road with his grandpa in Grandpa Roy's 1955 Mack truck.  Randy was an excellent storyteller.  He also loved going to his place in the Northwoods, with his dogs.  Randy was our all-around handyman and could build and fix anything...to "perfection!"  His grandchildren were his pride and joy.  He attended Grant and Jefferson Grade schools and graduated from North High School in 1980.  On February 9, 1991, he married Rene Schuppner.

Randy leaves behind those who loved him dearly.  His parents Steve and Darla Altman, his brothers Rick Thimmig (Sara), and Clay Altman; his former wife and good friend Rene; daugher Patti (Ben) Belger; granddaughters, Sierra, Lucia, and Lainey; great-granddaughter Khalia; his nephew Sam Altman; good friend Randy (Kathy) Marco; wonderful caring neighbors Carla and Terry Hall; and many other relatives and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his father Roger Thimmig; his sister Becky Altman; his grandparents Joan & and Roy Williams,  and Lucille and Arno Thimmig; and his many beloved pets-most recently Ruger, Walter, and Salty.  We know Randy would like to thank everyone for all their loving care, prayers, and support he received over the past two years.

Funeral VISITATION will take place at Reinbold-Noval Funeral Home, 1535 South 12th Street, Sheboygan, WI, on Thursday February 10, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.  A memorial fund has been established in Randy's name.

Our most heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your son Darla.  Yes, this is out-of-order which makes it all the more difficult.  Prayers for the God of all comfort to continue to be with you at this most difficult time.

It is with great sadness in my heart I feel I should share this with you.  Steve and I lost our son, Randy, on February 3, 2022.  Randy had health issues for a long time and put up a brave fight.  It was not easy for him and he went through so much.  So, his passing has been a blessing.  The loss of your firstborn son is not easy to take.  This is not the way it's supposed to be...your children are supposed to outlive you.  But, with God's continued help, we have gotten through and things are working in divine order with all the things we need to tend to.  We take comfort in knowing that he is at peace and in a better place.  Sorry I didn't post this sooner, but we are still trying to adjust to all this.

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 28th --- Took a cab home from work.
Fran invited herself over tonight.  Went to Demge's for a Coke.
(Note: Demge's Store...Broadway Avenue and Sauk Trail Road.
Popular place with all the neighborhood kids.  Way back in 1954,
I stopped there with my boyfriend for a malt after we had gone
to a movie at the Wisconsin Theatre.  It was my first date.).
Talk to Jim Kollmeyer in school today.  Got my report card:
C,B,B,A,&D.  Good enough!  (Note: Wonder where I got the 
"A" and the "D".  I'm quite certain I must have my report
cards in storage somewhere in all my treasures from school).  :)
